The online training is self-paced through online modules, with one live session for participants to connect and engage. You have up to one year to complete the training requirements.

Expressions of interest for the online training course has reopened. Please email ed.co@crochetguildaustralia.org.au to register your interest.

In-person Training: In-person training will be held on 17-18 June 2026 at the Novotel Wollongong, New South Wales just prior to the 2026 Crochet Convention. This format offers participants two full days of hands-on learning alongside instructors and fellow students. A key advantage of the in-person option is the opportunity to engage with the experienced members of the Guild, across the two days, who will share their experience on the curriculum that is covered, including their experience in establishing classes and teaching people. This will provide guidance and support on your journey to becoming a successful crochet instructor. You will have up to one year to complete all the training requirements.

Cost for Level One training is: $450 for CGA members and $500 for non-members.

Early Bird Special: Pay early and receive $50 off in-person training fees. That’s $400 for CGA members and $450 for non-members.

Testimonials

  • When I took the in-person teacher training course, I had never taught a class before. We learned many useful things, but my favorite part was learning how to crochet left-handed which helped me feel more prepared to support my students. I also liked the sessions about handling different student personalities, and Andrea’s talk on the benefits of crochet.
Lynda and Vicky have so much experience with teaching, and it was great to hear their stories. I still remember Vicky showing me how she keeps her samples to display—it was simple but so helpful.
One of the most important things I learned was how useful a lesson plan can be. I’ve made one for every class I’ve taught since then, and it has made a huge difference in staying organized and prepared.
I really recommend this course to anyone who wants to teach crochet. It gave me everything I needed to feel ready to start.|

  • Taking the Crochet Teacher Training Course was a transformative journey. It helped to deepen my skills in crochet techniques, but I also gained the confidence and tools to share my passion with others. The course was well structured, supportive, and pushed my skills to the next level. I now feel confident to guide students with clarity and creativity. I’m very happy to have had the experience.

  • I found the Teacher Training Course both well structured and supported by the CGA tutors.  The opportunity to standardize the basic learning of crochet for both Right and Left Hand students gives us confidence to share and teach this rewarding craft.  Also a great opportunity to share knowledge with like minded people.

  • I completed the CGA Teacher Training Course at the Sydney Convention in 2023.
The course was a wonderful opportunity to learn from some of the best crochet teachers and designers’ in Australia, as well as meet fellow crochet enthusiasts who, like me, were wanting to share their crochet knowledge with others.
The course was well structured, with a lot of detail, covering topics such as lesson planning, teaching preparation, crochet examples just to name a few.  There was information covering insights into how others learn, as well as giving very useful information on how to structure teaching for various learning environments.
I would recommend this course to anyone who is wanting to teach crochet to others.
