Step into comfort and colour with a twist on classic slippers.

In Tunisian Intarsia Slippers, Michaela Stephens guides you through creating a perfectly fitting pair using Tunisian crochet, from measuring your foot and adjusting gauge to crafting a striking Intarsia motif on the toe.

You’ll work the sole in Tunisian Knit Stitch, the upper in Tunisian Simple Stitch, and join them with a unique JAYG cast-off. If time allows, learn how to add a durable outer sole using reclaimed leather or materials from home.

Perfect for beginners and adventurous crocheters, this workshop combines precision, creativity, and practical skills to transform yarn into cosy, custom footwear you’ll love to wear.

Teacher: Michaela Stephens
Date: Saturday 20 June
Duration: 9.00 - 5.00 (with a 2-hour break for lunch)
Skill Level:  Easy: simple stitch patterns, colourwork and/or shaping
Inclusions:

General admission for the day (Saturday 20 June)

Handouts prepared by Michaela Stephens

Please bring the following with you to the workshop session:

      • 8ply cotton yarn in several colours
      • Tunisian crochet hooks, size 4.5 and 6 mm *(at a minimum, see notes)
      • Interchangeable cable(s) long enough to hold up to 80 stitches.
      • Flexible tape measure
      • Crochet stitch markers
      • Scissors and tapestry/yarn needle for finishing
      • Notebook and pen
      • (Optional) Ideas/inspiration for your own intarsia design (maximum 28 rows x 20 stitches), keeping in mind that the front left & right corners will be excluded (due to shaping of the toe).

Workshop notes: If you are aware that you normally crochet looser or tighter than ‘normal’, please bring a range of hook sizes (if you can) to help with adjusting your gauge. E.g., if you are a tight crocheter, consider bringing a 5 mm and a 6.5 mm hook, as well as the above.

You will need to prepare 2 small swatches before the workshop and bring them with you. Detailed instructions for the swatches will be emailed to you after you register for the workshop.

This session will be delivered in-person only - no online offering will be made available.

Please read our event terms including cancellation and privacy policy before booking.
