Ever admired knitted colourwork and thought crochet could never look that polished? The Waistcoat Stitch proves otherwise.

In this intermediate workshop, you will master a technique that delivers the clean, structured look of knitting with the speed and versatility of crochet. Kathy Vasic breaks down tension, hook choice and colour control, helping you tackle a stitch many crocheters avoid. You will put your skills straight to work by creating a bold beanie using up to four colours.

With guidance from a teacher with over 50 years of experience, expect challenge, satisfaction and a finished piece that surprises everyone when you say it is crochet.

Teacher: Kathy Vasic
Date: Sunday 21 June
Duration: 9.00 - 5.00 (with a 2-hour break for lunch)
Skill Level:  Intermediate: involved stitch patterns, colourwork and/or shaping
Inclusions:

General admission for the day (Sunday 21 June)

Handouts prepared by Kathy Vasic

Please bring the following with you to the workshop session:

      • Four colours of 4ply yarn in a fibre of your choice (not cotton)
      • Crochet hooks for the corresponding yarn. Pointy tips, NOT round tips. You will need a much larger hook than what the yarn suggests. For example, a 4.5mm to 5mm hook for 4 ply yarn.
      • Crochet stitch markers
      • Scissors and tapestry/yarn needle for finishing
      • Notebook and pen

Workshop notes: This workshop recommends hooks with pointy tips. It's also recommended to go up in size, e.g. 4.5mm-5mm for 4ply yarn.

This session will be delivered in-person only - no online offering will be made available.

Please read our event terms including cancellation and privacy policy before booking.
