Freeform crochet: getting started

Step into the world of freeform crochet, where every stitch can surprise and delight. For many, freeform feels intimidating, but Jenny Whiting shows how to turn familiar stitches and yarns into unique textures and shapes without fear.

Explore stitch combinations, textures, weights, and embellishments to create both dense and lacy fabrics, while learning which “rules” to follow and which to bend.

By the end, you’ll have practical guidelines, newfound confidence, and the freedom to let your hook roam, ready to begin your first truly original freeform project.

Please bring the following with you to the workshop session:

• A variety of weights, styles and colours of yarn from your stash
• Crochet hooks in a range of sizes, ideally including one large hook, e.g. 8.0–12.0mm
• Crochet stitch markers
• Scissors and tapestry/yarn needle for finishing
• Notebook and pen

Workshop notes: While this workshop is classified as easy, it does assume a good working knowledge of basic crochet stitches and their use.
