Join Jill Bradley for an exciting full-day workshop that combines the rugged charm of denim with the delicate artistry of Irish Crochet motifs. This session is perfect for intermediate crocheters looking to explore new techniques and create a unique, personalized vest.
In this workshop, you'll start by making a personalised toile to use as your pattern. Jill will guide you through the preparation of the elements needed for the vest, including discussions on design elements, preparing the denim or drill fabric with edging, making crochet tape, and crocheting motifs. You'll then put everything together on a pin board, deciding on methods for joining the elements. The aim is to finish one of the front pieces in the 6 hours provided and to support your confidence in completing the project at home.
Jill Bradley has been crocheting since she was about 11 years old, starting with doilies and moving on to rafia purses, handbags, clothing, and baby rugs. As a Primary School teacher for 40 years, she taught many groups to crochet and often put together student squares for various charities. Since retiring, Jill has been able to join groups that socialise and talk about crochet.

Yarn: suggestions are DMC Babylo 10, other size 10 mercerised thread, Perle 5 yarns, any brand. Decide if you want one colour or multiple colours.
Hooks: An Edjit tool or a hook size less that 1.00 that you can push through denim and pull through your chosen yarn. My examples, as in the photos, use a 1.50 hook for the lace.
Jill's pin board measures Dx18mm, L and W 410x380mm. Yours could be slightly larger or smaller, but you need to be able to reach over it to crochet. Jill sourced hers piece at Clark Rubber, but you can use a Styrofoam sheet.
