Join Vicky Ledwy at the National Crochet Conference for an enriching workshop on crocheting a 3D Roses. Delve into the intricate world of Irish Crochet as Vicky guides you through crafting a stunning 5 or 6 petal rose using this timeless technique. Gain a deeper understanding of the mathematical principles behind creating 3-dimensional roses and learn how to seamlessly incorporate them into perfect granny squares. Participants will not only leave with a beautiful rose block but also with the skills to transform their creations into elegant brooches or other adornments. As one of crochet's most revered techniques, mastering the art of 3D roses will undoubtedly elevate your crafting repertoire.

Vicky Ledwy brings over 40 years of crochet expertise to the table, having started her journey with crochet as a toddler. Currently serving as the Secretary of the Guild, Vicky is deeply passionate about sharing her knowledge and skills with fellow enthusiasts. With a rich history of teaching crochet through various platforms including TAFE, her own studio, and community groups, Vicky's dedication to the craft is evident. Her active involvement in social media and contribution to online discussions further solidify her commitment to fostering a thriving crochet community. Additionally, Vicky's extensive experience in organizing events and judging various handicraft competitions adds a unique depth to her expertise, making her an invaluable resource in the world of crochet.

Duration: Morning session: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Inclusions:  Vicky will provide some workshop-related handouts.
General admission for the day (Thursday, 27 June).
Skill Level:  Adventurous beginner – Can make basic stitches and work in the round (i.e. granny square). Or a more advanced crocheter who wants to level up their crochet. 

Please bring the following to the workshop:

  • at least three colours of 8ply yarn: one colour for the rose, one for a leaf and one for the background
  • 4mm hook or your preferred hook for 8ply yarn
  • scissors
  • yarn needle
  • crochet stitch markers

Please note: This session will be delivered in-person only - no online offering will be made available.

Sessions run concurrently on each day, so please only choose one full-day session OR no more than one each morning or afternoon sessions per day!
