Join Arunima Goel (knitterknotter) at the National Crochet Conference for her Getting Started with Tunisian Mosaic Crochet workshop. Discover the captivating art of Tunisian mosaic crochet and embark on a journey of colour work and texture.

Participants will delve into the fundamentals of Tunisian mosaic crochet through hands-on exercises, learning essential techniques such as reading mosaic crochet charts, executing colour changes, and creating intricate patterns. By the end of the workshop, attendees will confidently possess the skills and knowledge needed to start their own Tunisian mosaic crochet projects.

Arunima, a software engineer with a passion for crochet, brings over 15 years of experience to her designs. Focusing on Tunisian crochet, she crafts patterns that offer both beauty and a learning experience. Join Arunima as she shares her expertise and guides participants through the enchanting world of Tunisian mosaic crochet, where creativity knows no bounds.

Teacher: Arunima Goel
Duration: Morning session: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Inclusions:  Arunima will provide some workshop-related handouts.
General admission for the day (Thursday, 27 June).
Skill Level:  Adventurous beginner – Can make basic stitches and work in the round (i.e. granny square). Has ideally completed 2-3 projects or is new to Tunisian Mosaic Crochet.

Please bring the following to the workshop:

  • A 'pointy' 6 mm Tunisian crochet hook that can accommodate at least 20 stitches (it can be a long hook or one with a cable).
  • Worsted weight / 10 ply yarn in two contrasting colours (about 50 yards each). Choose a yarn that's easy to work with and doesn't split easily.
  • Tapestry needle
  • scissors

Picking the right hook and yarn is crucial for your first Tunisian Mosaic project. The yarn should be easy to work with, and the hook should be pointy to pick the right loops and bars. The yarn should also have enough contrast for the pattern to be clearly visible. Although a 6 mm hook is recommended, having a range of hook sizes (5 mm to 8 mm) is helpful for matching the right hook to your yarn.

Please note: This session will be delivered in-person only - no online offering will be made available.

Sessions run concurrently on each day, so please only choose one full-day session OR no more than one each morning or afternoon sessions per day!
