Every seen tartan or plaid?  The image above is by well known US Crochet Designer Marly Bird.

Well in crochet that is created through a technique called "Planned Pooling". It's a fun technique that many people think is much harder than it is. That’s because it looks so amazing. You use multicolored / variegated / self-striping yarn to create intentional patterns of colour pooling within a project. The result s a beautiful, colourful, geometric design that really makes a statement when you look at it. And yet, because it uses basic crochet stitches, it’s actually a lot easier than you might.

In this class, Crochet Guild Australia's Secretary, Vicky Ledwy, unravels  the mystery of what makes a yarn suitable or not suitable for Colour Pooling.

Students will learn the importance of being able to sequence and manipulate the colour runs to achieve their very best visual effect of a tartan or argyle appearance.

Students will marvel at their own progress as the elusive Plaid or Tartan pattern emerges before their eyes. If you’ve ever wanted to learn the mystery of this technique then this is your chance
